The aim of the project was the study of pottery coming from the ancient city of Pella, the capital of the Macedonian kingdom, in order to better examine issues related to vase production and dissemination. In order to answer the archaeological questions asked for the specific archaeological material, a macroscopic examination and archaeological categorization was carried out, which was accompanied by quantitative elemental analysis of 93 pottery samples from Pella and their subsequent comparison.
The results of the analysis were added in the archaeological study and interpretation in order to draw conclusions on the initial questions. Sample analysis was performed using X-ray fluorescence microscopy. The non-destructive and multi-elemental quantitative analysis of the archaeological samples was thus achieved, which was particularly important because of the value of the analyzed fragments.
