EUROTRA aimed at the creation of a Machine Translation laboratory prototype from and to nine EU languages.

Within the framework of this project the Greek team acquired valuable experience and expertise in computational linguistics and it developed formalism specifications for the following: Greek language analysis and synthesis grammars, language transfer grammars, a monolingual electronic dictionary for Greek, bilingual dictionaries and transfer grammars from English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese into Greek. The formal framework was the one provided by ETS (EUROTRA Translation System).
