Abstract: | This paper studies the relation of persuasion to conversational dominance as attested in simultaneous talk occurring in political interviews. The focus is set to the non-verbal aspects of the interview participants’ interactional behavior when simultaneous talk occurs and specifically during interruptions; non-verbal expressions do not simply accompany speakers’ attempts to interrupt, but they are indicators of the degree of success of the speakers’ intentions and shed light on the persuasive strategies used for the accomplishments of the interaction. |
