Spyridoula Stamouli holds a PhD in Linguistics, an MA in Applied Linguistics and a BA in Greek Philology, all from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. In her PhD thesis she studied narrative development in Greek L1 and L2. She has been working as a Research Associate at the Institute for Language & Speech Processing / “Athena” R.C. since 2002 and has participated in a number of R&D projects, mainly focusing on the development of educational and cultural technology applications targeting different age groups and covering a wide range of learning needs (children and adults, native speakers and L2 learners of Greek, learners of foreign languages, typical and atypical speakers). In particular, she has been working on the development of Technologically Enhanced Learning applications for teaching, learning and assessment of Greek as a mother tongue and second language, as well as for the assessment of learning difficulties and speech & language impairments. He has long experience in designing and conducting linguistic research, including the design and delivery of experimental procedures and language data collection protocols, data annotation and analysis procedures. Her research interests include the study of language comprehension and production mechanisms with eye tracking systems, the development of multimodal communication systems applied in the fields of education and e-health, and the development of automated procedures for the evaluation, detection and treatment of communication disorders (speech and language impairments) for children and adults with speech and natural language processing technologies.
