Frieda Charalabopoulou holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Athens, an M.A. in Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Reading (U.K) and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Athens (in the field of CALL). She has been working as a researcher at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing/R.C. "Athena" since 1990 and has participated in various European and national projects, initially in the field of Natural Language Processing (EUROTRA, LS-GRAM, GRAAL, MLAP) and then in Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (SΤRIDE-LOGOS, Dialogos, IST-Education & Training, e-logo, LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME, EUROPEAN TERRITORIAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME “GREECE-BULGARIA” etc.). She is the author of the language material of all the versions of the courseware “filoglossia” for learning Greek as a second/foreign language and of the web-based language courses “Learn Greek”. She has published papers in international and national conferences and journals in the field of CALL. Since 2007 she has been teaching to postgraduate students at the University of Athens (cognitive field: CALL) and has supervised dissertations. She has also delivered a series of lectures at Vilnius University (Lithuania) and at Wiener Volkshochschulen (Austria).
