Βιογραφικά στοιχεία

Η Ελένη Ευθυμίου είναι Διευθύντρια Ερευνών στο Ινστιτούτο Επεξεργασίας του Λόγου του Ε.Κ. Αθηνά, όπου εργάζεται από το 1992.

Απέκτησε τον τίτλο του Διδάκτορα Φυσικών και Θεωρητικών Επιστημών από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Salzburg (Αυστρία) το 1986, με ειδίκευση στη Γενετική Γλωσσολογία. Στο ΙΕΛ, εργάστηκε ως ερευνήτρια σε όλο το εύρος αντικειμένων του Ινστιτούτου (Επεξεργασία Φυσικής Γλώσσας, Μηχανική Μετάφραση, Ηλεκτρονική Λεξικογραφία, Εκπαιδευτική Τεχνολογία).

Το 1999, ίδρυσε την Ομάδα Τεχνολογιών Νοηματικής Γλώσσας (slt.ilsp.gr). Έκτοτε επικεντρώθηκε στη συλλογή και επεξεργασία πόρων νοηματικής γλώσσας, καθώς και στην ανάπτυξη τεχνολογιών συνθετικού νοηματισμού, υποστηρικτικών εργαλείων, και προσβάσιμων διεπαφών, με έμφαση στην Ελληνική Νοηματική Γλώσσα (ΕΝΓ).

Από το 2006, ενέταξε στα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα τη μελέτη της πολυτροπικής έκφρασης και επικοινωνίας κατά τη φυσική ανθρώπινη αλληλεπίδραση σε διάφορες καταστάσεις, καθώς και τους τρόπους μεταφοράς της φυσικής πολυτροπικότητας στην επικοινωνία ανθρώπου-ρομπότ.

Παράλληλα με την ερευνητική της δραστηριότητα, δίδαξε επί σειρά ετών στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης και στο ΕΚΠΑ, ενώ δίνει σεμιναριακά μαθήματα και ομιλίες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό.

Κατά την τρέχουσα περίοδο, διευθύνει το Τμήμα Ενσώματης Αλληλεπίδρασης και Ρομποτικής του ΙΕΛ.
