This paper discusses a cross-disciplinary research on the communicative role of non-verbal expressions in TV face-to-face interviews occurring in various settings. Specifically, face, hand and body gestures observed in a video corpus are identified and annotated according to their semiotic and communicative features in terms of turn management and participantsr feedback. In the resulting annotated corpus the feature correlations as well as their distribution across the data are examined in an attempt to find evidence about their potential systematic role. Furthermore, the corpus is studied in order to explore possible patterns by which the speakers regulate their interaction through the use of non-verbal expressions as well as the effect of the situational and conversational interview setting on the interactional behavior of the participants.
